The patient had a “Vac” ordered for his sternal wound. It was delayed x “Days x 4!” Geralyn called KCI – Vac to see where the problem was (several days in a row, day and night). Finally, Vac was delivered on a Sunday morning at 12:30 am. This man had a large, nasty sternal wound and every day it was open was a chance for T infection. Geralyn had the devotion to her patient to come in on that Sunday and applied the Vac and cared for this patient. He was so very appreciative. He sent me this letter:

Occasionally a person’s performance rises above the rest. Not only does Geralyn do her job with grace, compassion, and competence. This past Sunday she gave up her personal time off to treat me, as my therapy had been delayed by outside factors. Her devotion to patient care is nothing short of exceptional and I applaud her.
