Geralyn is being honored with this DAISY Award for the care she provided to a patient who had multiple blood transfusions and an emergency hysterectomy. The mother of four explained in her nomination letter that she had no early warning signs of any health issues, so it came as complete surprise.
"The entire ER staff was exceptional in the care provided and their demeanor made me feel very comfortable and well taken care of," she wrote. "I really feel as if Geralyn took personal care of me and she even stayed with me until I was rolled into the OR."
The patient said she believed Geralyn's presence lifted her spirits to be able to make it through the ER visit.
"Without these everyday heroes that cared for me in the ER I truly do not know if I would be alive today and able to watch my children grow," she said. "She and the staff deserve any and all recognition for their truly tremendous abilities. Thank you, Geralyn, I will forever remember you and your kindness during that difficult time."
