Gerard stood out above the other nursing staff in his performance which has greatly affected my stay at the hospital. On the 3 opportunities I've had to work with him, he's always paid close attention to my needs. This began at shift change when he came on, he was always studious in his scheduling with me which included getting me to relax and have a more comfortable night of rest. He also paid attention to my personal needs such as me wanting a carton of milk, a turkey sandwich, to ice water changes, as well as my clinical needs, addressing my pain management. He was very quiet, professional, and reserved throughout the night so that I could continue my rest.

I believe his professionalism in carrying out his duties makes him a prime candidate for the DAISY Award and I do wish he be recognized and be given this award as he diligently worked for it, but did not seek after it. Also during my stay, he was always nearby, unless he had other duties, he was always within earshot of my room.
