Gerard seems like he has a pure and genuine soul. He made an excellent decision in choosing his career path because he is a phenomenal caregiver.
My 9-year-old M was intubated. Although she has asthma, I have never in life experienced or imagined anything like this. My mind was blown because everything happened so fast. After Ochsner Main Hospital intubated M, she was transferred to St. Mary's by ambulance. I was a mess, and nurse Gerard noticed it. He pulled me to the side to ask health questions to get me away from the view. Although M came in after his shift, he still stayed to assist M and me.

On his first night as her nurse, I felt at peace. He took care of her as if she were his family. He was the first nurse to flip her from side to side. He talked to her during the intubation and listened to her hand gestures. He treated her like she was awake and not like someone on the machine. Any questions I had, he answered. He also came in periodically to check on M. He didn't come in just to give meds or to check temps. He checked in as much as he could to make sure we were both ok. He is very passionate about his job. You can tell he is in the nursing field to help others. When M was extubated, she asked who was the man talking to her. She said he was nice and made her feel calm. "I liked it when he held my hand when I was scared. He also put lip gloss on my lips." M said he was so patient, and he was the reason I stayed calm. We thank you so much.

Gerard was the night nurse for my son, Z. Z was in PICU for three weeks, and during this time, Gerard went above and beyond to make us feel as comfortable and cared for as possible. He is an outstanding nurse. His positive attitude and extreme attentiveness made us feel hopeful and safe during an extremely difficult and scary time. He is very professional and focused when it comes to caring for his patients. He also always went out of his way to make sure we (Z's parents) had everything we needed or wanted. He did a wonderful job explaining when we had any questions. Gerard seems like he has a pure and genuine soul. He made an excellent decision in choosing his career path because he is a phenomenal caregiver. I truly can't express enough my gratitude for Gerard. I've had many hospital stays with my son, and I've never had a nurse who was so incredible in so many ways. I'll forever be incredibly thankful to have him as our nurse. He brought so much light to a dark time. Thank you so much, Gerard!
