I would like to express my appreciation for the outstanding, professional service offered to me by ER Nurse Geri Guardia.
Geri went above and beyond to assist me with the signing of a power of attorney for my father. My father recently suffered a heart attack and is currently in rehab. When I was informed that my father had fainted during his physical therapy and was being transported, a myriad of thoughts rushed through my mind. My fear was my father would become incapacitated which
I was in contact with Geri much of the day and she kept me apprised of my father's condition and his care plan. I let her know the attorney and I would be coming to the hospital before 5:00 p.m. to have the papers signed. Geri said she would keep my dad in the ER because, with the COVID restrictions, visitors would not be permitted upstairs.
Geri was able to coordinate with the attorney, her paralegal, and me to meet with my father to take care of this critical paperwork right in the ER. I also appreciate this assistance because it was the first time I was able to see my father since he fell. Thanks to Geri's assistance, we were able to ensure I can properly handle my dad's affairs, including his healthcare decisions. Becoming a nurse is truly a special calling and not everyone is cut out for this profession. Most patients visit the ER under extreme duress and having nurses like Geri there to help is truly a Godsend.
