There was a pediatric patient who began seizing while Giany was making rounds and was right at the bedside when this happened. Giany along with her coworkers stabilized the patient, which included meds and a CT scan, and transferred the patient to a room in PICU. Giany stayed with the patient until she was stabilized in her new room. Only 45 minutes at most elapsed from the time these events started to the time the patient was transferred to PICU
As the primary nurse, Giany displayed excellence and compassion to a patient with no family here. Because of tragic circumstances she cared for this child like her own and stayed at her bedside to comfort her throughout the night, charting next to her to keep her calm and keep close watch over her. This to me is above and beyond the duties of a nurse. Providing comfort to a helpless child makes Giany a true DAISY Nurse.
