November 2023 Honoree
Gilberto Chavez, BSN, RN
Gilberto is a very kind nurse! My dad just had surgery for meningioma and has been forgetful and confused since he started recovery. Gilberto has gone above and beyond with brain exercises – asking questions for location, hospital, year, and month. His repetition is helping my dad exercise his brain, and I see some small improvements. Gilberto is also very tender; when helping my dad get up to go to the bathroom or giving him meds, he is so gentle with my dad. I can tell by how Gilberto assists and touches my father that he really seems to care – even calling him “Papa.” My dad really loves Gilberto and says he’s one of his favorite people. Gilberto speaks softly and kindly to my dad – and doesn’t raise his voice – most people yell at him because he’s 80 years old, but he’s not hard of hearing. I really appreciate Gilberto showing kindness, respect, and tenderness to my old dad.
Thank you, Gilberto, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
