Being a first-time mom, I had no idea what to expect! My day shift nurse on this day was Gill Danilson. I was honored to be this sweet soul’s patient. She was due in April with her own baby and is still a fantastic nurse. Attentative, kind, and compassionate. She helped me through my difficult epidural procedure when my support people left the room at the request of the anesthesiologist. Gill told me to use her for support however I needed and encouraged me through the pain. At the shift change, Gill came in and, upon a cervical check, determined it was time to push! Gill knew I had got close to her and how she did things throughout the day. She also knew it would not be my OB I had picked to deliver but rather the on-call. Knowing this, she offered to stay after to coach me through my birth! Very pregnant herself and having already completed her 12-hour workday, this incredible soul stayed for the half-hour it took me for us all to meet my son. This is an experience I will never forget. Because of Gill, I will definitely deliver here again for any future children I may have simply because of this act of kindness and compassion.
