May 2016 Honoree
gillian winter, RN
As I filled out the whiteboard in a patient's room, I asked him "What does excellent care mean to you?" He thought for a minute and then said, "I'm going to say one word, and then I will explain." I nodded and waited, and he said "Gilli". He went on to say:
"Gilli makes me feel like I am her only patient. She focuses on me and my needs. She is very calm, and acts like she has all the time in the world. When she is here, she takes her time, explains things to me, and lets me ask whatever questions I need to ask. Gilli makes me feel important, not just a sick person in the hospital. That, to me, is excellent care."
Gilli is always smiling, calm, and jumps right in to help her co-workers without being asked. She learns quickly and is patient with everyone she comes in contact with. She is compassionate and caring, and goes the extra mile for her patients. She is a joy to work with and an awesome asset to our unit.
