We feel very strongly touched by his compassion to care for patients with humanity and love.
My dad has been diagnosed with bile duct cancer. When he was first admitted to the hospital, he had a tumor in his bile duct area and it blocked his stomach, liver and bile duct. Because it was a very complex situation, he has been in the hospital for about four weeks now. During the stay, we have met and received care from quite a few doctors and nurses. Nurse Gilton o Olilo has been extraordinarily helpful and supportive. We feel very strongly touched by his compassion to care for patients with humanity and love. Both mom and I have been sad and weak, especially in the beginning when we found out about dad’s diagnosis. Gilton's positivity, encouragement and his love has helped keep us going and stay hopeful. He is always smiling, and patient with my dad even though my dad gets fuzzy and grumpy. He would do special care such as position his pillows in a special way, warm up his food when he misses meal time, he would even come visit my dad after his shifts on the days he doesn’t get to work with my dad. We feel very warm and safe when dad is in the care of Gilton. Truly, he has gone extra miles to not only support patients but the families as well. He is like a family to me when we are vulnerable and lost. We are so grateful for having Gilton during this difficult time. Words cannot express how much we appreciate him. We would like to encourage other nurses to provide compassionate care like Gilton does because it would make a huge difference in helping to cure someone with love!
