Gina has met with each family, discussing their preferred plan of care, and helping them cope with their grief while making these tough choices.
We cannot begin to thank Gina enough for all she did for us. This was by far the hardest thing we have been through but having her support made it bearable. We still cannot believe it has been a few weeks since we got to meet our sweet baby girl. We think about her every second of every day but are just so thankful that we got to hold her and she didn’t struggle. We will never forget all of Gina’s kindness. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We all know that labor and delivery is the happiest, most wonderful place to be in the hospital....... except when it's not! I often tell my families who have a tragedy that I am so sorry that I cannot bring their baby back or make him or her healthy, but that I can walk with them and hold their hand through this awful time so they don't have to be alone. I want to share how Gina Moore picked up my patient and carried her a couple of steps recently.

My patient got the shocking news at her anatomy ultrasound that things were not good and her baby was not going to make it. The procedure that she wanted was not available to her locally so she would have to travel out of state. Even though she did not deliver at our hospital, our wonderful perinatal loss support team will take care of any of our patients. So, when I asked Gina to reach out to my patient, she learned that the patient was scheduled for her procedure on her birthday. The patient was upset at the thought of the date of losing her baby always being her birthday, yet she didn't have the courage to tell the schedulers that the date they gave her was not good. Gina was the voice my patient needed at that moment when she called the schedulers and told them it was not a good day for our patient. She had them rescheduled her. Something so simple made such a huge difference. Thank you Gina for walking with our patients through their biggest nightmare.

In her role, Gina helps grieving mothers daily. She handles these situations with grace and compassion routinely, but currently, Gina has an unusually large patient volume, including four perinatal palliative patients under her care. Each one has unique circumstances that will translate into a very short life span for their newborn. Gina has been helping these families navigate the rough waters of knowing they will lose their child shortly after birth. Gina has met with each family, discussing their preferred plan of care, and helping them cope with their grief while making these tough choices. Gina has introduced each family to the interdisciplinary team that will care for their newborn after delivery. Her family meetings have included Neonatology, Nursing, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Obstetricians, Chromosome labs, Hospice Services, Pastoral Care, Social Workers, Funeral Homes, and Photographers. She has kept the entire team updated with parent’s wishes and pregnancy concerns. Gina has gone above and beyond for all four of these families, providing an ever-present calm that parents trust wholeheartedly with their newborn's care. Gina is definitely a DAISY Nurse.
