Through my educational experiences with Gina, I have been fortunate to grow as a person and as a caregiver as a result of her dedication to higher learning and nursing excellence. In addition to an extensive and diverse background as a nurse coming from the Philippines, Gina is able to transfer her life experiences and wonderful personality into the classroom setting in a way that fosters meaningful relationships among classmates and staff members, as well as challenging students to hone their critical thinking ability. My most recent class with Gina was especially eye-opening, as she shared with the class a heartfelt story about a passing family member. She went on to explore our feelings and strategies regarding end-of-life care in nursing and offered sound advice on effective ways to interact with the patient and family throughout the process. That is just one example of Gina's commitment to the betterment of the nursing profession, and I believe she should be commended for her dedication by being chosen as the recipient of this prestigious award.
