Gina facilitated a wonderful conversation which allowed one of our hospice patients to openly ask her family members if they were ok with her dying. Using the phrase 'are you ok if I go' and while holding Gina’s hand the patient asked each family member in turn and explained she herself was ready to go. The conversation brought peace to the patient and allowed the family to express their feelings as well as reassure the patient. This is just one example of many which most are unaware of in the day-to-day work life of Gina and other hospice nurses.
