Gina was keeping in touch with the patient and also the patient’s family, supporting them through their distress.
It is my pleasure to nominate Gina Pointer, RN for the DAISY Award. Gina is the Clinical Coordinator, Charge Nurse, Staff Nurse, and fill in PCT when needed at Lake Jackson Dialysis Center. She never bats an eye at filling any position needed to make our clinic run smoother. Gina also truly cares for each and every patient as if it is her own family member.
We had a patient who was returning to our clinic after being in a rehab hospital for a few months. Even though the patient had been discharged, Gina was keeping in touch with the patient and also the patient’s family, supporting them through their distress with the ups and downs the patient was going through. Explaining what was happening when the patient was having difficulty and when things were going well. When the patient was being discharged from the rehab facility and family had decided on Hospice, Gina took the time to go to the patient’s home to visit her, express our love to her before she expired.
This is just one of the many times Gina has, on her time off, visited a patient. Many times Gina will go to the hospital to visit patients and let them know they are cared about. Gina goes to every patient’s funeral that has expired to let the family know we still care. This woman has a heart of gold and is truly the best Nurse ever!
