A Veteran nominated Gina Reed. In 2017, he began seeing Gina. He had made the decision to quit smoking. He said, "Gina is always there to listen and was very supportive." Through his journey to quit smoking, it was discovered he had an irregular heartbeat, heart blockages, and needed stents. He has been smoke-free since July 2018. He credits Gina and her continual support and encouragement for his success. Without her, he would still be smoking, never would have found his heart problem and would probably be dead.
