I was diagnosed with osteomyelitis. This diagnosis would require that I have an antibiotic infusion every day for six weeks. I had the choice of having the infusions administered by a skilled nursing center, or in a hospital that offered infusion care. I chose to have my infusions administered at the Ascension Seton Hospital in Luling, Texas, which is 15 miles from my home. This decision would require that I drive to the facility every day for as long as the infusions were required. Not knowing what to expect during the first several days of my treatment, I quickly learned that I was in good care by the nurse in charge of the infusion and wound care section of the hospital. Gina Sample was patient, kind, and very caring of her patients. Her time management skills were so impressive, that I was never left waiting for a long period of time when I arrived for my daily appointment. After about three weeks of treatment, it was decided that I wasn’t responding to the original antibiotic, and a change in the antibiotic was required. This change required a totally different treatment schedule. I am employed by the school district where I live, and the schedule change would require me to leave work early each day for the balance of the treatment time, about four weeks. Nurse Gina insisted that she change her schedule to accommodate the new treatment schedule. This would mean she would get off work later than her required schedule and that she would spend less evening time with her family than before. I found her to be a very dedicated and devoted wife and mother! I was so thankful for the exceptionally good care I received from Nurse Gina and Ascension Seton Hospital.
