I was sitting at my daughter’s bedside as she was dying and this kind nurse comes in to look at her port. She could tell how broken I was and she asked if she could sit next to me. She gave me support, held my hand, talked to my daughter and me. She gave me her time to listen and care, and even wiped away my tears. I had almost lost my faith, as I have lost too many loved ones to cancer. She offered to pray for us, which I needed because I simply couldn’t. Ginger held our hands and prayed for us for peace, comfort, love, and so many other things. She helped restore my faith and my daughter responded by gripping my hand. She listened, hugged me, and made me feel comfort that my daughter who hasn’t talked, heard, and had tears. What a gift to have a nurse like her. I will never forget what she did for us. She showed a grieving mother faith that I will see her again someday. She truly gave me a reason to keep going rather than be the mother of a dying patient giving up.
