Ginger Mason has really demonstrated complete compassion and care for patients
Many examples come to mind where Ginger Mason has really demonstrated complete compassion and care for patients as a whole in addition to their basic clinical needs. The first example is when a PD patient was not doing well and verbalized anxiety.
Ginger talked with the patient and he shared with Ginger that he didn't want to stay on dialysis because he was well known in the community and was embarrassed others would find out. Knowing the patient’s prideful concerns, she formulated a plan to assist him in his desire to minimize the potential of the community discovering.
On lab and clinic days the patient parked around back and Ginger met him in the back parking lot to escort him in the back way where no other patients would see him. When there became a need for home visits, Ginger would park her car a significant distance down the street and walk to the patient's home. Taking these extra steps minimized anxiety and allowed the patient to stay in therapy on his terms.
There are many stories of this kind of action we could share about Ginger, such as when she supported a patient's family emotionally after a house fire.
