Ms. Shaw exhibits all the ICARE principles; integrity, commitment, advocacy, respect, and excellence. She exhibits these principles in every interaction. One day, I was standing in the pharmacy line and Ms. Shaw went out of her way to not only call me by name but say hello. Due to our last visit, she knew I was struggling with some mental health issues. She noticed some cues, I did not seem ok. She asked what I was doing at the VA on this day and I told her I was having issues getting my choice prescriptions. She stopped what she was doing and got involved. She played the middle man and communicated with everyone who could help me get the medicines needed. She even waited in line with me. I could not have made it or been able to get my medications that day without her help.
