Gintare was taking care of 2 young cancer patients (one newly diagnosed on this hospital stay and one at end of life). On this day that she was caring for these patients I saw her have so much compassion. She sat with the dying patient when she was alone. She advocated for the patient to have better pain control and even cried with the family. On a hard, emotional day, I saw the true compassion and care of a nurse in her. She made the dying patient's last day dignified and comfortable.
