Giselle joined Calvary in early 2009, right after she completed her education as a
registered nurse. A record number of 40 nominations were submitted not only by Giselle’s
fellow nurses but also from various departments throughout the hospital.
Her nomination forms from many colleagues and a few family members of patients
included comments such as:
Kind, compassionate nurse, industrious with a “gentle smile and a kind heart.”
Always makes certain that patient and family are comfortable -- an advocate for patients.
She cares and she gives quality care to the patient, but also supports the staff.
Has special way of putting the patients and family members at ease.
Goes out of her way to bring joy to patients, families, and her co-workers.
Ready with a helping hand, even if it means she has to stay longer to finish all her work.
Knows how to keep morale up and is excellent, caring nurse.
She always smiles, has time for patients, families and even other staff members. She
makes everyone feel as though they have her complete attention.
She goes above and beyond, inspiring everyone she works with.
Born in Bacolod in the Philippines, Giselle was raised in the Bronx, just a few blocks
away from Calvary. She was graduated from Lehman College’s Department of Nursing in the
School of Natural and Social Sciences. Her mother, also an RN, and a sister also work at
Calvary. Giselle is the 9th person in her family to pursue a nursing career. In her spare time,
Giselle enjoys hiking, bungee jumping, and training for marathons. She resides in Yonkers.
