Giuseppina "Josie" deserves The DAISY Award for her success at convincing a patient to adhere to physician recommended medical treatments. The patient was 31 weeks pregnant and refused to take antihypertensive medication or insulin unless she was delivered, as she was tired of being pregnant. The patient had been in the hospital for the past two months due to medical issues associated with her diabetes and hypertension. After multiple attempts by providers including behavioral health, a neonatologist, and several obstetricians, Josie was able to convince the patient to agree with recommended medical treatment to avoid adverse maternal and fetal outcomes. Throughout this entire time, Josie was actually assigned to other patients and was not this patient's nurse. Kudos to Josie for a job extremely well done. She is deserving of recognition for her above and beyond commitment to quality patient care.
