Glad Quinonez, BSN, RN, RN-BC
My brother was on CCU for seven days. He was attached to every machine to support every organ and system in his body. Over the week that he was on CCU, and his body began to fail, Glad took the time to sit down with our family on many occasions and share compassion, empathy, and time to listen to our concerns about my brother.
He never made us feel as though he was anything but there for our loved one and for us. On many occasions when our family member was on the precipice of life or death, he stood with us. He explained everything that was going on medically in a way that allayed our emotions and fears, in language that we could understand.
He must've been tired working 12-hour shifts, but he always had a cheerful smile on his face or gave us a shoulder to lean on. Glad gave us everything we needed from a wheelchair to help my 90-year-old father return downstairs to his car, to getting a doctor to answer questions he could not. What a great nurse!
