While I have been at Sutter Hospital trying to figure out what cancer(s) I have rapidly growing in my abdomen, the nursing care unit have been compassionate, caring and patient. I especially felt that compassionate care and patience with my night Nurse, Glenn. He would enter the room singing show tunes, out of tune, with a smile in his eye, reminding me of my year in the Philippines building a 50-foot catamaran and singing karaoke in the evening with the locals. Philippinos are the kindest, happiest people I have ever met. It is difficult to get a good education there, so I was more impressed with Glenn.

Glenn checked on me all night on his shifts to keep me out of pain. Before shift change in the morning, he would find the time to be sure I got to the sink and the bathroom before he left, patiently waiting for me to finish.

On my last day here, I had stomach surgery and could not get out of bed easily, so he brought me a mobile toothbrush kit. His personal touch and his personality made me feel at ease, and his kindness made me feel comfortable in a difficult situation.
