I wanted to panic at first but I knew that everything was going to be ok with Gloria there to sort it out. I believe that our son is still alive today because of Gloria.
Our newborn son was transported from out of state to the Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit for several pulmonary/cardiac issues. As newborn parents, the scariest thing you can hear from a doctor is that there's a chance your son won't make it, and we need to fly him to a special hospital. Trying to process that and being overwhelmed by all the tubes, hoses, medications, and machines connected to him, it felt like life was frozen and all we could do was listen to the beeps on the monitors, holding your breath whenever the alarms go off. During all this, Gloria was assigned as a night nurse to care for our son. I can remember feeling a warm calm as Gloria smiled and gave us updates during her first night with our son. She cared for the parents that night as much as our son as she patiently explained what all the vital numbers and lab results meant and made sure we were set up with access to see them ourselves. She not only trained us parents but also several other nurses during her time with our son. She immediately called Gloria, who rushed in and took charge of the situation to make sure there weren't any lapses in his medicine doses. Gloria then spent the next 2 hours redoing all of the pumps and lines with the nurse. I wanted to panic at first but I knew that everything was going to be ok with Gloria there to sort it out. I believe that our son is still alive today because of Gloria. Her skill, attention, and care for our son and our family will always be remembered. Thank you, Gloria.
