Gloria serves her patients and family members with genuine compassion, always with a huge smile that is real.
My husband came to Cardinal Hill and Gloria has been his weekend night shift nurse from day one. Being in healthcare, I recognize good nursing care, and Gloria exemplifies those qualities every nurse should have. My husband had a massive hemorrhagic stroke and spent three weeks at UK Healthcare, initially in critical care. He then transferred to Cardinal Hill. During this time, we were very overwhelmed, scared, exhausted and experiencing many emotions.
Gloria serves her patients and family members with genuine compassion, always with a huge smile that is real. I had no worries. My husband was in great care. We never leave him because of his condition, but I am confident that if we had to leave for whatever reason, if she were the nurse, I would know he was in good hands as if I was there. She made sure he was comfortable, clean, attentive to putting his braces on, turned him as required and needed, and made sure he urinated frequently. She answered all our questions and had genuine care and concern for my husband’s progress and for him to keep getting better. I feel so much at ease when she comes on shift, and I know I can actually sleep. She takes the time to talk to us and interacts with my husband, which he enjoys. You don’t always get that kind of care, but it’s wonderful when you do. Patients need that, and their families need that. I want her to be recognized for her hard work and caring disposition. I hope our paths cross again on better terms or better situation. But we were blessed to have her as our nurse.
