Gloria was one of the first SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners) in El Paso to become certified through the Texas Office of the Attorney General; to provide medical forensic sexual assault examinations to survivors of sexual assault/abuse/exploitation. She took the initiative to go through the long process to become certified to provide the gold standard of care to these patients who not only need to have a medical forensic examination, but also have needs on an emotional, mental and psychosocial level as well. Gloria always shows caring, empathy and compassion for these patients regardless of gender, race, background, or age. Being a SANE is a labor of love and Gloria continues to work tirelessly to ensure the SANE program continues to grow. Gloria acts as a mentor and counselor for all SANEs.
