First Nomination:
I would like to add to the nominations for the DAISY Award, asking that we recognize Gloria Stabryla of the PSS department in Novi. Gloria has cared for our orthopedic patient population for some time. She is tireless in her spirit and devotion. Gloria gives of her time and her heart with every patient. She teaches, listens, and consistently goes the extra mile to meet the needs of our patients. She has been known to make small gestures, buy them coffee, and spend extra time to make sure their stay is good and they get the extra care that they need. Gloria is not only wonderful with patients; she is wonderful within the team. She works well with my administrative assistant, our office staff and our clinical staff to make sure classes get conducted and patients get followed up. Gloria is a terrific nurse and we are blessed to have her in our organization.
Second Nomination:
Gloria exemplifies SJPHS mission, vision and values. She plays a vital role in getting the surgical patients adequately and safely prepared before the date of surgery. In order to optimize patient safety and quality care experience, there are numerous endeavors she has to tackle and complete after obtaining the health history of the patient through phone screening processes. As a result, she develops a positive rapport with the patient and the surgeon’s office staff. She is instrumental in coordinating the total joint clinic activities. She is authentic, humanistic and takes time to talk with her patients.
Third Nomination:
Gloria is one of the most dedicated, professional people we have on staff at Providence Park. She lives the mission and values, and quite honestly defines them by her very nature. Gloria always makes a personal connection with our Orthopedic patients. When I am calling patients six weeks after discharge for a follow up survey, countless times, the patients are telling me what a positive impact Gloria had on them, and just how cared for they felt by Gloria. She is the one name they all recall. Gloria “saved the day” with patients in her keen assessment skills, catching medical facts only caught due to her scrutinizing diligence and attention to detail. The words “not my job” are never uttered by this hard-working person. She has often sent a flower to a patient, or made a follow up visit once they had surgery just to let them know she cares about them. Even during her time of great personal loss, Gloria took the time to write letters to Dr. W, to personally thank all of us who looked in on her for emotional support.
Fourth Nomination:
I feel so honored to work with Gloria. The Orthopedic population is touched by her in a very wonderful way, and the comment I hear most often from patients is that after talking with Gloria, they feel like family. This is a true gift, and so very rare a quality for people to have. It would be tremendously fitting for Gloria to be named the DAISY Award recipient.
