Glyna planned and worked really hard to give us the best retreat that I have ever experienced!
As an RSN I have seen plenty of nurses come and go. The COVID pandemic has impacted a lot of people everywhere, it affected everyone especially hospital staff. Our unit's morale has been at the lowest I have ever seen since I started working here, and I have been working here since 2008. Nurses are what they call heroes because of the sacrifices that were made to take care of every patient and their families' needs, but who takes care of our nurses?

Even before Glyna became HEART council rep for our unit, she has brought so much joy and positivity to our unit, her eagerness to learn and help, and her excitement with even the smallest things are just so HEARTwarming and so refreshing to see. When she started in her role, she worked so much to help our unit. She started the employee of the month for both days and nights, she decorated all our units during holidays, and she has a very open heart, which makes it very easy to talk to her; people started to tell her issues that they have. Issues that are bothering them, but do not have the courage to talk with leadership. Guess what Glyna did? She set up a meeting with the leadership that expressed staff's issues and they were able to answer staff concerns, and she emailed us the whole issue and resolution that was approved by the leadership. She recognizes that staff is going through a lot, and she makes sure that she goes above and beyond her job helping each and every one. I thought she was doing an excellent job and just going above and beyond as a nurse and as a HEART Council rep! Do you think she stopped thereā€¦No, wait till you hear this, these are just the things I know she did and is doing, but I know there are still more coming!

She planned and worked really hard to give us the best retreat that I have ever experienced! She made sure to advocate for not only the nurses but the whole staff, our Nursing Assistants, USAs, and Birth Recorders. Glyna recognized that lactation consultants do not have a shared governance council and she advocated for them as well, knowing that they are a big part of our team. Remember I mentioned that nurses were considered heroes, but who takes care of the nurses? Glyna does! She is our Hero!

Glyna has the biggest HEART that I know, she goes above and beyond with her duties as a Nurse and as a person! She was hired as a new grad not too long ago, yet she has made so much impact on our whole unit. She embodies a person with a great IQ and great EQ. Her passion, positivity, and love for our unit inspire me and many others to keep going and strive to do better. The retreat really had amazing results for everyone, the non-RN staff felt very included, seen, and acknowledged. We got the chance to get to know each other again. Once again, I, on behalf of our unit, would whole HEARTedly love to nominate Glyna Lara.
