From my neck down, I cannot move. I cannot turn myself, scratch an itch, drink water, adjust my pillow, or even hold the hand of the people I love. Every small task that most people take for granted depends on someone else.

Being in this condition is not only physically difficult but emotionally exhausting. Nurse Gowri never treated me like a patient who was just doing routine care. She treated me like a human being with dignity. Before every procedure, she explained everything clearly and made sure I understood what she was going to do. She always spoke to me with kindness and patience, even when I only needed my pillow adjusted slightly, my lips moistened, or my blanket straightened. Before I even asked, she had already noticed and helped me.

The hardest part of my condition was losing my independence. Every time I had to ask for help, I felt guilty. But Nurse Gowri never made me feel like I was a burden. She would smile and say, “Don’t worry.” She cared not only for my physical needs but also for my emotional well-being. She reminded me that I was still a person deserving of respect, kindness, and hope.

One thing that touched me deeply was that her kindness was not reserved only for me. I watched how she cared for every patient in the ward with the same urgency, compassion, and respect. No matter how busy she was, she responded promptly to every patient’s needs and never made anyone feel ignored. She treated everyone equally.

To me, Nurse Gowri is not only an exceptional nurse but also a wonderful role model for all nurses. Her dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to every patient set a standard that others can look up to. The nursing profession is truly blessed to have someone like her.

Thank you, Gowri, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
