After discharge, nurse Grace kept in touch and continued to advise on the best way to get pregnant again and how to get over our loss and grief.
I first came into contact officially with Grace Aitee De-Graft when she displayed outstanding behavior that ended up correcting any wrong image people in my locality had about nurses and midwives in her facility. One night, my pregnant wife called my attention to the sad news that she was bleeding, so I rushed her to the hospital. I can say that we were lucky to have met Madam Grace. She attended to us with a lot of respect, compassion, and promptness.

My wife and I were surprised by her professional empathy, which made me wonder if, indeed, she was a nurse from Ghana. She was just exceptional. She first introduced herself to us and checked my wife’s vitals, all the while taking time to explain my wife's condition and what she hoped to do to restore her health. At the time we arrived at the hospital, my wife had lost her pregnancy and was bleeding.

Her attitude was reassuring, and she quickly took samples of my wife’s blood and asked that I go to the laboratory and also get my blood group tested so I could get some blood for transfusion. By the time I got back, the bleeding had ceased, and she had placed an infusion on my wife, who was lying comfortably in bed. She then called a doctor and had a conversation on the phone with him as she continued to give us reassuring messages and education regarding how to avoid stillbirth or problems with future pregnancies. My wife was detained till the next day when she was formally admitted to the facility for further treatment.

Her interventions and psychological support helped my wife to gain strength both physically and mentally. While on admission I observed that she arranged for an NGO to help pay the bills of women who have given birth and couldn't pay their bills which I also benefited. After discharge, nurse Grace kept in touch and continued to advise on the best way to get pregnant again and how to get over our loss and grief.

Fortunately, after a few months, my wife got pregnant again, and Madam Grace was there throughout my wife's journey with professional advice on how she should live her life so the incident does not repeat. My wife gave birth, and Madam Grace was available when we had complications with my son's circumcision. Even at dawn, she came to help take our son to the hospital for further treatment.

Madam Grace has been the best nurse with the right character, I have ever come across. Her patience, empathy, hard work, and dedication to the way she carried out her work made me wonder if she was not even my sister or my wife’s sister.

I heard all her clients speak well about her, the help she extends for people who have difficulty paying their bills and how she goes out of her regular schedule to provide care every time women need her help. She offers hope when it appears lost.
