I have been Grace's supervisor for 10 years. During this time, I have always been touched by her kindness and the care she gave her patients. She provided private duty care in the home. The particular story I would like to share relates to her caring spirit and concern for not just her patient but support to the family. In January, it was her patient's 11th birthday. That day when her younger sister arrived home from school, she ran into her sister's room to wish her a Happy Birthday. She then asked Grace if they could have a party for her sister! Together they made plans for a grand party, which included playing Justin Bieber music with her sister singing and dancing around the room for her big sister! When it was time for Grace to go home, the sister became sad because she wanted to share a birthday cake and sing Happy Birthday to her sister. Grace, being the sweet and generous nurse with a big heart, stopped by the local store and purchased a cake, then returned to deliver the cake and sing Happy Birthday! I know that this is a memory the sister will never forget because a few days later, her older sister was admitted to LLUCH and unfortunately did not get discharged home, God had different plans. I have been so blessed to work with many great nurses over the years. Truly, Grace is a nurse at the top of that list.
