She reminded me that my body was strong and fierce. She listened to my needs and wants, and she even anticipated them.
Grace was my nurse when I was induced for preeclampsia. We knew this meant my baby would be born premature, and for my family, that was scary. Through the night, Grace kept reminding me my body was made for this, that my baby knew what to do & was nothing but encouraging & reassuring for me & my family. The next day I spent all day laboring, while we thought he would come during day shift, my baby loved Grace so much he waited for her night shift to begin. During my actual delivery, Grace once again was nothing but encouraging & supportive. She reminded me that my body was strong and fierce. She listened to my needs and wants, and she even anticipated them. After delivery, she was so attentive to me. She took great care of me and escorted us to the NICU so I could hold my baby for the first time. Once I got to the postpartum floor, I realized I left my water bottle in the NICU. She overheard me tell my fiancé that I forgot it & she went to the NICU to get my water bottle & brought it directly to my room. As a nurse myself, one who plans to start on L&D following the homecoming of my warrior baby, Grace showed me exactly what kind of nurse I will strive to be.
