He was very unsettled and the pain would get worse and worse as time went on; but when Grace came into his room, she worked diligently to make the process as restful and easy for him as she could.
Grace Peters cared for my grandfather while he was at CHS. He was admitted to CHS due to complications from blood clots. He had been in and out of CHS and rehabilitation centers for a while. During his final stay at CHS, his condition began to deteriorate as he developed pneumonia and got covid. Eventually, he was placed on hospice care at CHS. Unfortunately, he passed away from all these complications. My grandfather thought the level of care he received from all staff at CHS was great; however, when Grace became his nurse, he would frequently state “she is so special”. The kindness and compassion she showed towards my grandfather was not only noticed by himself, but by the family that was around him in the hospital the entire time.

Grace made my grandfather feel as comfortable as he could and took the time to answer all his questions. When he was placed on Hospice care and he realized he was near the end of his natural life, Grace went above and beyond to make him as comfortable and pain free as she could. He was very unsettled, and the pain would get worse and worse as time went on; but when Grace came into his room, she worked diligently to make the process as restful and easy for him as she could. He thought very highly of Grace. The level of care she showed for him was noticed by all family members who were present during his time at CHS.

Family would frequently ask Grace questions, some of which where extremely difficult about end-of-life care and what to expect. Grace always took the time to answer everyone’s questions and always maintained the highest level of professionalism. If Grace did not know the answer to our questions, she was not afraid to ask a co-worker or call a doctor to find the answer for us. Grace gave the family just as much, if not more comfort during this difficult time. Sometimes it is difficult to put into words the type of impact someone has on you during difficult times. We have all experienced loss throughout of lives. My grandfather's wife passed away in 2013 from glioblastoma. I know I speak for the entire family when I say this, I wish we had a Grace Peter’s caring for her when she was sick and in the hospital. Grace’s level care, compassion, professionalism, and overall positive attitude deserves to be recognized.
