I have been in the hospital for over twenty-five days and I have had my share of nurses. But, there is one nurse who has treated me with the most respect and didn't pass judgement towards me because I'm in custody at KCJ and have an officer watch me 24 hours a day. Other nurses have treated me like I was a bad person and like I didn't deserve the same treatment and respect as other patients. Grace actually took the time to get to know who I really was as well as my story. I only had her for a weekend, but every day she works she goes out of her way to come say good morning to me and check on me and make sure I am doing okay and have no problems. I have felt so alone and afraid, but Grace has made all those fears go away and has made me feel so much better. She's the only one to have put a smile on my face and make my tears and pain go away.
She is more than a nurse. Grace gets some of the cruelest and meanest patients, but she never gives up or lets their negativity affect her work. I wish there were more nurses like Grace. The world (this hospital) would be a much better place.
