Grace exemplifies what it means to be a nurse. She is warm when she interacts with patients, intelligent, resourceful, and the backbone of our oncology family.
Grace was teaching a nurse to my one-on-one in the ICU for my carboplatin desensitization protocol. Grace is such a professional and enjoyable person to be around! She was excellent in her knowledge about all areas of cancer and helpful when I had an initial reaction to the carbo. That was resolved, and after teaching a class, she came back to be with the nurse and me. We enjoyed our conversations and appreciated everything she did. Thank you, Grace!

I had been in the hospital for almost two weeks. Grace took time to roll me, by wheelchair, downstairs and gave me much-needed time off the floor. She took me on a tour and ensured that I was completely satisfied with getting things from the gift shop and coffee shop. She didn’t rush me or feel pressured to get me back upstairs. She was very kind and compassionate. She shared how she became a nurse, and she inspired me to continue my education, too! I appreciate all the staff at SJH, but Grace stood out of all my admissions.

Grace exemplifies what it means to be a nurse. She is warm when she interacts with patients, intelligent, resourceful, and the backbone of our oncology family. Grace is always available when we have questions, day or night. Often, when an oncology question is posed, you will hear the same response, regardless of the nurse, “Ask Grace.” She is like an oncology encyclopedia. Grace goes above and beyond, making nurses of all backgrounds and experiences feel safe and comfortable administering chemo. We can’t tell you how many times she has sat with us in the IMC or ICU during a difficult chemo run to make sure we feel supported, often into the night. Her passion is evident, her heart is pure, and her love for caring for oncology patients is as genuine as they come!
