Grace Stone continues to go above and beyond, not just for her patients, but also for her patients' family members.
Grace had a patient who ended up having a catastrophic bleed and was not going to make it. The patient’s husband was at the bedside, and he had been with his wife since 4 am, and he had not eaten anything. Grace made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for him after he stated he felt he could not go down to the cafeteria to get food because he did not want to leave his wife's bedside. Every time she was in the room, she continued to check on him. He eventually asked if there was any way he could get a cup of coffee. She went up to Panera and bought him a fresh cup of coffee with her own money so he could have a good cup of coffee.
That day, the son was driving from Vermont to see his mom one last time before she passed. The husband came out and approached Grace about how to set up an Uber ride to get his son from his house to the hospital. She and another nurse split the cost of an Uber ride to get their son to the hospital to be able to come and say goodbye. Grace gained nothing by doing any of these things for this patient and the family. She did it for the sole reason of doing whatever she could to help them.
