Grace was nominated by a patient who said that he was treated like he was her own family member when he was admitted to the Oncology and Malignant Hematology Unit. He was so confused about his situation and he doesn't know what to do, but Grace was there. She did so much more than just caring for him. She has been a teacher, partly a motivational speaker, and the bigger part of her is a therapist. The patient said that if it weren't for Grace, he does not know how things would have turned out. He also realized through his experience with Grace the importance of nurses in healthcare. He mentioned that nurses are just as important as physicians or any other healthcare providers.
The patient left a short message for Grace and this was relayed to her during the DAISY Awarding Program. It says, "Keep working hard. You are saving lives every day! Never give up, I believe in YOU!"
