Gracie is one of our night shift nurses but whenever we need additional nursing staff on day shift, she willingly comes and works on day shift. She is very energetic in the unit, you will always see her working. You will never see her sitting and doing nothing. She's always on the go. She will answer call lights and help patients even if she's not their nurse. She also helps nurses if they have difficult blood draw or hard to start IV's. I call her the "super nurse." Gracie never seems to tire helping patients and her fellow nurses, even when she's busy. Sometimes I see her feeding or educating patients and their families, and giving them comfort.
She is also really passionate about nursing. Gracie collaborates well with the other members of the healthcare team. She does discharge planning with the social workers and case management, as well as communicates well with the physicians. You know that patients are well taken care of if Gracie Herrera is their nurse.
