Grant made such an impact, the family invited him to the funeral.
Grant had a patient with a GI bleed, it was his second night with the patient, and Grant noticed they were rapidly declining. The patient was transferred to the ICU with a mass transfusion and surgery. Grant called the daughter, who already knew him because the patient sang his praises for Grant's dedication, reliability, and patient care. Even though the patient was transferred, Grant still went up to the ICU when the family got there to give updates, answer questions, and make sure they were okay.
Unfortunately, the patient did not make it and Grant was called to the ICU floor to console the family, mind you, he had a group of patients on a very busy unit. Grant made such an impact, the family invited him to the funeral. Out of respect and dedication, Grant attended, which shows not only how exemplary he is as an employee, but as a person.
Grant has many examples of going above and beyond as an employee and co-worker, as he is currently giving a ride to a co-worker whose car was in an accident. Grants integrity and hard work ethic were also acknowledged by a special needs patient he had who colored him a picture that currently hangs on his fridge. Grant takes pride in his work, gives 110% of himself to his patients and their families. I believe Grant deserves this acknowledgment because even during a pandemic, his kind heart shows through his compassionate care.
