The Bags of Love initiative is more than a project - it reflects the values we hold and aspire to. G7N team's ongoing commitment to compassionate service continues to strengthen our community and inspire others to join in this important work.
Recognizing the Green 7 North Team's Exemplary Community Service
It is with great pride and admiration that I nominate G7N for the Team DAISY Award for their remarkable "Bags of Love" initiative, led by a team of Registered Nurses, held in February 2026.
The G7N Team understands that true care extends beyond the walls of our hospital. Through the "Bags of Love" initiative, they have demonstrated a profound commitment to supporting those in need, even outside of our hospital, reminding all of us that our responsibilities as caregivers do not end with clinical care but reach into the heart of our community.
The dedicated team has embodied the spirit of compassionate service, forming deep connections with each other and our community, living out Wellstar's values, and aligning their efforts with Wellstar's strategic plan to Elevate Communities Positively and Build Connections.
Impact on the Team
The initiative also strengthened the G7N team internally and among various disciplines. With broad participation and hands to help (including team members from Education, Care Coordination, Nursing Staff, and Leadership), team members built relationships and teamwork outside of work that translated directly into stronger collaboration on the unit by supporting one another and ensuring patients receive seamless, high-quality care toward our vision of delivering world-class healthcare to every person, every time.
Impact on the Community
Recognizing the urgent needs faced by individuals experiencing homelessness, the team launched the "Bags of Love" initiative, involving preparing 100 packets filled with essentials: beanies, snacks, hand sanitizers, sanitary pads, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorants, blankets, socks, etc., especially as these individuals faced another harsh, wintry weather.
The team's efforts did not stop there. They came together to prepare and distribute 100 nutritious meals, ensuring that each person received not just sustenance but also a sense of hope, care, and belonging. These acts were not simply tasks completed but heartfelt gestures of empathy and support to those in our communities.
The Bags of Love initiative has touched many lives. By meeting basic needs and listening to the stories of those they serve, the team has fostered trust and uplifted spirits. Their presence has brought comfort during difficult times and demonstrated the healing power of compassion outside the walls of Kennestone Hospital.
