Greezel Makilan, BSN, RN
Greezel is the epitome of the characteristics of a great leader. You can always see and feel her dedication and compassion for her work and her relationship with colleagues and nurses.
Also, Greezel is one of the pillars of a strong nursing preparation for the Magnet Visit. She always gives her full commitment to her work, and it shows and reflects on the people around her. She is true and pure to her intention to help others regardless of who and what position they have, and she never says “No” to people who need help.
In all task forces or in meetings, usually, nurses have misunderstandings and arguments on some topics or what solution will be appropriate to follow, and with her presence, she always shares her knowledge of expertise to help the nurses decides on the best option that they must do.
She has a voice by representing ASH nurses in all ways, or by supporting or working toward a project that would benefit nurses, patients, and families. She does her best in encouraging and motivating nurses to do better by giving her time to listen to their ideas and concerns.
Overall, Greezel is best as a communicator, liaison, educator, interpreter, and caregiver. She is the most emphatic person we know. Her leadership and compassion for the people she serves are incomparable.
She always uses her head and heart to inspire and influence people so they can, in turn, inspire and influence others. Compassionate leaders like her use their influence to positively impact themselves and others.
