The extraordinary nurse who made a difference for my disabled uncle and me works in the ER. His name is Greg Harriman, and he was the charge nurse of the night shift. After waiting 27 hours for a bed upstairs and sitting in a chair that long, next to my uncle on his gurney in the hallway I became frustrated and exhausted from the long wait. Greg went out of his way to provide a place for me to lie down and rest.
His compassion touched me deeply as my uncle's care falls squarely on my shoulders. Greg recognized that in order to better care for my disabled uncle I needed to rest. Greg is the epitome of loving people enough to serve them at their most vulnerable time and making them feel like they matter. We thank him for his sheer kindness and compassion.
