I was a direct admit to surgery from the clinic for acute appendicitis. Greg, RN, escorted me to surgery and was most kind to me. I will admit, those of us in the medical field are not used to being the patient, and my sheer fear (and pain) brought tears to my eyes as I was being taken to the OR. I cannot remember exactly how he said this, but something like, "We do this every day. You don't. It's okay to be a little afraid, but we will make you better real soon. This is not your normal routine, and it has to be a bit scary being on the other side." That made me feel so much better. I thought I was being so brave, but actually was totally scared, and with Greg's reassurance, I felt better and ready to get rid of that hot appy!
You should be proud of Greg. He has the true nursing compassion skill. It was a great surgical experience.
