I was in ICU after a reconstruction procedure from breast cancer and my nurse was Gretchen. We live an hour away from the hospital. My daughter was going to come to pick me up but she could not get there until after seven. Unfortunately, the hospital pharmacy closed for the day, and all the prescriptions were at that pharmacy. Not only did Gretchen provide excellent care all day (and she was very busy) but when my daughter could not get there before the pharmacy closed, she paid for the prescriptions and went downstairs to get them so that we would have medication to go home with. She went down and paid for them with her own money because I did not have a purse or wallet with me. To me, I feel like this is going above and beyond for your patient. It would've been awful to have to go home and not be able to pick up the medication. Thank you!
