I have routine endocrinology appointments scheduled and I am always checked in to the clinic by Ms. Schaal- Bates. At every appointment, her care of me is courteous, friendly, professional, caring, and kind. She seems to always exceed my expectations and no matter how the day may be going for her, I notice she always carries a smile when she is with patients. On my recent appointment, I arrived early for my 11 am and waited a few minutes to be called. Around 11:03, Ms. Schaal-Bates came out to the main common area of the clinic where I was sitting and told me that the room was not ready, but she wanted to come out and let me know that I was not forgotten and she’d come back for me in a few minutes. Do you understand what I mean about exceeding expectations? Who displays this type of compassion and care even when I’ve only waited a few minutes? Ms.Schaal-Bates does! And then to go a step further, she said to me that she didn’t want me to wait in the common area and she could bring me back to another room near her so she could take my vitals, etc.. (the room I would normally see the endocrinologist suddenly needed a sink repair and that is what caused my delay). But Nurse Schaal-Bates found a solution for me. Again exceeding expectations. I told the endocrinologist how exceptional her nurse is and told her I wanted to thank Ms. Schaal-Bates. She agreed that her nurse is exceptional.

This caring behavior is witnessed by me every time I come in for my endocrinology appointment. I truly appreciate her service and believe she is deserving of this DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Because Ms. Schaal-Bates truly is exceptional and certainly makes me feel as though I’m the most important patient at your clinic.
