I was diagnosed with HER2+ Breast Cancer and I had an extremely rough time on aggressive chemo. I live alone and am really struggling with all aspects of this. I had a lumpectomy and my three sisters were there with me throughout.
Gretchen Walton was assigned to me after surgery. I simply can't verbalize how fantastic she was and how happy I was to be assigned such a caring and wonderful nurse.
When us four sisters are together, it's sometimes intense; we are so close and all are worried about me and another sister. My other sister recently had a double mastectomy. We are having trouble managing the illness and anxiety. Gretchen is so intuitive about how to manage a situation/family like mine. Post surgery, Gretchen stayed with me; answered all our questions; immediately provided drink and food; helped de-escalate my fear and anxiety with her competence, strength, care, and compassion. Gretchen was "present" in every sense of the word. I don't know what I would have done without Gretchen!
