She is exactly the definition of a good nurse. She was someone who made me feel safe, and comfortable and even laugh during such a low point in my life.
I am a fellow labor and delivery nurse and I was absolutely blown away by this nurse's care. Having a chronic spine condition that causes pain so severe I don’t function well, I often get treated like I’m a drug seeker in the ER. This time was no different the doctor told me he’d give me one dose and send me right home. My pain management doctor had even called ahead to try to tell them my history and why oral meds do not help. I was distraught by his reaction and quick dismissal like I was a liar.
It was Greysi who calmed me down so quickly and took exceptional care of me. If she said she’d be back in 5 mins she’d be back in 3. She not only did what I needed but somehow knew what I needed without asking. She advocated for me like I’d never seen before- finally getting me sent to the observational unit. She is exactly the definition of a good nurse. She was someone who made me feel safe, and comfortable and even laugh during such a low point in my life. She even made sure my mom was taken care of as well. I could not thank her enough, and I think someone like that should be recognized.
I know from my own experience how being busy can ruin your mood and affect your reactions to patients, but not her! She was bright, caring, and actually LISTENED. She makes me proud to call myself a fellow nurse. She’s an inspiration to me and made my family at home feel that finally after years of poor treatment at hospitals, someone was listening and taking care of me. She needs to be noticed and praised for all nurses to see and hopefully be inspired to take on her kind attributes.
