Despite it being 8 degrees outside, here came Griffin pushing Mom out the door to my car, which I was able to warm up because he did this.
My mom has had a terrible turn of events in the last year, and unfortunately, this meant several trips to the Franklin Hospital for scheduled and emergency room visits. One of mom's first times we were visiting the hospital, we had a nurse named Griffin. He is younger and works on the 5th floor during daytime surgery. Griffin was able to make mom comfortable with everything going on with her, and even was patient enough to repeat things as mom has hearing issues.
The first visit was made much better because Griffin was there to help Mom in a way that she felt comfortable enough asking him to help her use the bathroom. Fast forward, and mom again had to make a visit to the 5th floor. I can not express the relief and happiness Mom and I had when Griffin turned the corner to come and get us from the waiting area. I wasn't sure he remembered us; however, we remembered him. Right from the start, Griffin made sure Mom was as comfortable as possible, even though she was in so much pain. He again was so nice and explained things to us so that we understood, and even did his best to draw a diagram to show Mom a visual. His attention and check-ins were perfect without being too invasive. At the time of checkout out he offered to take mom down in a wheelchair, so she didn't have to walk. Despite it being 8 degrees outside, here came Griffin pushing Mom out the door to my car, which I was able to warm up because he did this.
I am not sure what can be done to recognize Griffin; however, please know that he is an awesome addition to your team. Mom and I are so very grateful that he was there for us. Griffin has chosen a great path for himself, becoming a nurse. His compassion and empathy while taking care of Mom are such a ray of sunshine in an otherwise gloomy situation for us.
