Guadalupe's passion for education also shows in her patient care. She takes time to explain and educate her patients in ways they understand.
This RN has proven to be a highly engaged nursing professional and mentor in our department and organization. She strives for excellence daily while working with her patients and colleagues on and off the floor. She has completed Preceptor training, served as a preceptor to new nurses, and most recently worked with Direct Study Students. This RN is a member of the PCU Preceptor Development team, where her feedback helps our team to understand the needs of our preceptors and preceptees, standardize the formal orientation process, and develop methods for improving our preceptors' interpersonal and teaching skills.
In addition to serving in these roles for our organization, this RN serves as an informal mentor to nurses in and out of our department. She invests in others outside of work by providing homemade meals and companionship. Outside of our organization she serves as an Ambassador for our RN staffing partner, PPUSA. She is passionate about improving the experience of international nurses as they transition to nursing practice in the United States.
In regards to role-modeling, this RN is able to manage complex patients with multiple comorbidities and high acuities, all while maintaining her kind and respectful demeanor. She also role models the importance of continued education. She holds her MSN in Nursing Education and gladly shares her knowledge with others and orients new staff.
Her passion for education also shows in her patient care. She takes time to explain and educate her patients in ways they understand. These are all qualities that I hope others see and are inspired to embody. We are fortunate to have such a compassionate, driven, and engaged nurse and mentor on our team. She truly is a Guiding Star!
